BAIS is proud to announce that Rama Ceesay, 2023 BAIS Senior, was accepted to Wellesley College as part of their Class of 2027.  Wellesley is a very prestigious university known as a 'little ivy' and is ranked 5th in the USA among liberal arts colleges.

Rama had not originally considered Wellesley, an all women's university located just outside of Boston, Massachussetts, but she was advised to look into it during the BAIS College Counseling program during 11th Grade. She visited in the summer of 2022 noting, "As soon as I set foot on the Wellesley campus, I was hooked and determined to gain admission there."

Rama joined BAIS from the USA when her family relocated to The Gambia in 2021 and said that she never expected such a small school in such a far off place to propel her to her dream college. She took four Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams offering her access to college level materials and was an active leader of the BAIS Student Council. She also received the opportunity to experience clinical laboratory experience through an internship at MRC.

Rama was informed that she is one of the 13% of the 8,400 applicants to Wellesley this year -- the second largest number of applicants ever to the university.  She feels very fortunate to be joining the school in August 2023 to pursue studies in physics or neuroscience.

BAIS wishes her every success!
